Cran-apple crunch is a Thanksgiving staple in the Randall 'must-haves' line up, every year. I think the first person to make it for our family when I was a youngster was my Aunt Norma. I recall that we all loved it so well, that she made it each year after it appeared on the scene in the late 60's or early 70's. We used to have a huge dinner with all of Mom's sisters and families. There were 10 cousins, 3 aunts and uncles, my family of four and Meme - those were the days! Now, my family enjoys it every year too! It's the one recipe I follow exactly, so here it is for you!
Cran-apple Crunch
2 cups fresh cranberries (or one bag)
3 cups apples chopped unpeeled
Cover the first 2 ingredients with 1/2 cup sugar in a 9x12 casserole dish.
Melt: 1 stick butter
Add: 1 cup oatmeal, 1/2 pecans, 1/3 cup flour, 1/2 cup brown sugar
Spread this mixture over the cranberries and apples.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes or until bubbly and browned.
Enjoy next year! I was too busy cooking to add this before Thanksgiving 2015. Hope yours was as blessed as mine.
